How to Become a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader

December 30, 2019 By Texas Travel Leave a Comment

How to Become a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader. The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders are the most recognized squad in the sport. To be a part of the squad, you must be attractive and in excellent physical shape. There’s more to becoming one of America’s Sweetheart cheerleaders than this, though.

Meet the minimum requirements. To join the squad, you must be 18 years old and a high school graduate. You also must attend college or work. Finally, you must live in Dallas during the football season.

Be an athlete to perform the dance combinations and kicklines. Rehearsals are 2 to 5 times a week and are at least 3 1/2 hours. You must have stamina, flexibility and timing.

Submit an application and register to attend the open audition held each spring. The registration packet must include your application, signed waiver, signed disclaimer, your photo and a non-refundable processing fee. You can download an application from the Dallas Cowboy’s website.

Attend prep classes offered to prospective cheerleaders. These classes are led by choreographers and squad leaders currently working with the Dallas Cowboy squad.

Audition to be a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader. You must pass the preliminary, semi-final and final auditions to join the squad. You are judged on dance technique, physical appearance, enthusiasm, talent and other characteristics.

Interview with the judges and pass a written exam that covers the history of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, general knowledge of the Dallas Cowboys, basic information on the National League and current events. You must give a 90-second individual talent performance and participate in a group performance of a dance combination and kickline.

Agree to the rules and regulations. The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders must perform at games, attend social events, travel and represent their team and league. The organization has a lengthy list of rules and regulations that you must uphold. You must be a poised, confident and talented entertainer and role model.
